Wednesday we had our Team Challenge Kick-off meeting at Koss. I arrived a bit late b/c I had to drive over to Koss from Waukesha. It was really fun- they had snacks and I met some cool people I knew from Twitter.
Because I had already raised $750 in donations I got presented with a T-Shirt in honor of “Cotton is Rotten”. This is the shirt I’ll be wearing during our training sessions which start Sunday at the Petit. Thank you to everyone who has already donated to help me reach this goal!
There was a singlet that will travel with us to all of our practices and to Napa for race day. I wrote the name of my sister on a ribbon and pinned it to the singlet so that she will be with me through all of the practices and with me at the race.
I didn’t fully understand the impact that embarking on this challenge would have on me. When I decided to do it- I thought it would be a great way to support a charity that means a lot to me, and get in shape at the same time. However, I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve received and it’s made me feel accountable to each and every person that has donated to this cause. I feel like you are all with me as I take this journey and I want to share this experience with you every step of the way. I am also extremely grateful that my company offers a Charitable Giving Matching program- how cool is that to work for a company that wants to support their employees in giving back to the community! I think it’s awesome!!

Today I did a yoga class for 75 minutes to de-stress from Quarter close and really stretch out before tomorrow. I love practicing yoga- I love how it makes me feel, how it relaxes me, and how my body responds to it. I truly believe that if everyone practiced yoga (by practice I mean really practice & lived by the principles- not just attend random yoga classes) that we could attain world peace.
In Yoga class the instructor reminded us to focus on our intentions for the practice which made me think of what my intention should be for tomorrow’s kick-off training. My intention for tomorrow’s kick-off training session is to
a) keep up with everyone
b) complete the the training in its entirety and push myself to do a little bit more
c) focus on my sister and my donor’s throughout the training
Tomorrow is Day One of Race Training. I just know this is the start of something wonderful and amazing!
